"Biermann'sche Villa"
"Biermann'sche Villa" was built in neo-Renaissance style in 1896 as a manufacturer's villa. The villa is one of the most prestigious buildings in the history of Bitterfeld and its region. It melds styles and adornments from several eras of architecture. In this respect the design of north-west front of the building as well as the design of the gable with adornments can be assigned to the neo-Renaissance age. There are further designs of neo-Renaissance and neo-Gothic in the rooms and stairway of the villa. You can also find some inside walls decorated with a fruit pattern frieze which comes from the Art Nouveau era.
In 1999, the Sparkasse Bitterfeld bought the villa in order to maintain this ancient monument and to integrate it within the scope of the overall concept of the urban development and landscape architecture (the Goitzsche cultural landscape).
"Villa Biermann" is a top-ranking evidence of the industrial history of this region. It is not only very attractive in itself but also in its very particular scenic location, here where the south-east corner of the region "Große Mühle" extends into the "Große See".
The long lasting coal mining could not harm this building. Due to the redevelopment of the remaining opencast mines, the original riverbed (which was rerouted during the mining) has been reflooded and a splendid scenery has subsequently come into existence.
Due to the construction of a new waterfront and the relocation of the "Berliner Straße" the villa is now located near to the lake and has favourable transport connections.
Formerly called "Biermann'sche Villa" and now named "Villa am Bernsteinsee" since the reopening, it has evolved to an exclusive hotel with several individually furnished apartments, meeting facilities as well as numerous possibilities to enjoy and relax, not least owing to the marina and the newly created surroundings.
We look forward to seeing you.
We have composed some very interesting
